We serve children with developmental disabilities, speech disorders, hearing impairments, learning disabilities, attention disorders, mental retardation, cerebral palsy, autism, Down Syndrome and other chronic handicapping conditions, providing evaluation and treatment services.
Our outstanding specialists include developmental and behavioral pediatricians, nurses, speech-language pathologists, occupational therapists and physical therapists.
The institute is dedicated to offering excellence in clinical care, as well as comprehensive educational programs for medical students, residents, and health care professionals.
The institute is also sensitive to the impact of developmental-behavioral problems as they affect the family and community. The focus is not only on the child, but also on providing support services for those involved in the care of children with special needs.
The Hackensack University Medical Center’s Institute for Child Development (ICD) strives to fulfill its mission statement: “All children are exceptional … enhancing their quality of life by providing opportunities for them to achieve their maximum neurodevelopmental, educational, and behavioral potentials, is our professional commitment.” This challenge is addressed with professional expertise in a caring environment.
