What We Do
The therapeutic relationship established by child life specialists and creative arts therapists provides consistent support and creative opportunities to resolve issues of loss, separation, control, anger, fear of medical procedures, and anxiety related to illness and hospitalization.

These therapists promote a sense of well-being and a mastery and understanding of the hospital environment and medical procedures.

Child life specialists and creative arts therapists encourage the development of positive coping skills through stress reduction techniques, play, creative arts therapies and verbal interactions.

Other services offered include:

  • Assessment, treatment, and follow-up are provided on an inpatient and outpatient basis.
  • Consultations are available for all patients within the Department of Pediatrics.
  • Art therapy groups for children and adolescents with cancer, diabetes, rheumatological illnesses and asthma, which additionally offers peer support.
